Leisure

Today, everyone is in mad pursuit of money. A man is not contented with what he has. His desires are unlimited. For fulfilling his desire, he needs money. And, for getting more money, he does more work. He has become a money minting machine. He has no free time to spend as he likes. He lives in stress and strain. He suffers from modern ailments like sleeplessness and nervous breakdown. This has made him realize the need for leisure. Today even the busiest man tries to find some leisure.

However, it is one thing to have leisure; it is quite another to use it gainfully. If leisure is spent in some pleasant pursuit, it gives real joy. It restores lost energy to the mind. One can spend one’s leisure is gardening, painting, photography, reading, rowing or in whatever way he likes. But one should not just idle away one’s leisure. This is perhaps the greatest abuse of leisure. Leisure is a basic resource which is necessary for, and which is used up in, the performance of any action whatever, and therefore in pursuit or enjoyment.

Leisure has great significance in man life. He has to spend most of his time in routine work which is dull and boring. Leisure is basically relaxation and rejuvenation of the individual. Leisure is seen as man greatest possession because it is essential for self-development. Leisure gives him an opportunity to do what he likes.
