If you have come to Ireland on vacation, it is not necessarily a given that you have come to relax! After all, a country with such a stellar array of activities designed to appeal to even the most active and sports minded of visitors does not assume that it is welcoming a tourist who is looking only to relax, particularly when so many of them work to cram as many activities into as short a time as possible, so as to make the most of their stay!
However, some people do like to go on vacation to relax, and some of them even choose to come to Ireland! Some of these then choose to spend their vacation or a portion of it on the Dingle Peninsula, and in this case, they will want to know what pleasant leisure activities Dingle has to offer them. Many of Dingle’s attractions do delight the active tourist, of course, including walking trails and a wide selection of heritage and archaeological sites, for which Dingle is famous. However, there are also more laid-back pursuits that will delight the leisure seeking tourist too.
Dingle offers golf links, of course— most of Ireland does! The Golf Club Ceann Sibeal in Dingle actually lays claim to its position as the most westerly course in Europe! benefits from the rugged, mountainous terrain and sweeping green hills of the region, and has a par of seventy two. The court was fashioned by the architects’ laying-down of sod over the existing terrain, making the topography appealingly natural and challenging enough to keep the attention of talented golfers, but is fortunately not so challenging that it will move the more modestly skilled to tears.
If golf is not quite your thing, don’t worry, there are other Irish sports readily handy. Why not try your hand at angling? Sea angling is offered in Dingle, which is small wonder given that much of the locals’ livelihood is made from the land or sea, and what could be more relaxing than the thrill of netting a great big fish?
