Plan Your Holidays Safely

Whether people know it or not, besides people having to go on business trips, traveling is also a means of adventure and relaxation, especially during the holidays. While traveling can be a very fun activity, you can never be sure of any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. Problems that we run into at home are a lot easier to solve then when we're out of state or out of the country.

To be sure that you don't end up experiencing any complications during traveling, there are some tips that can make sure you trip goes as planned.

1. Make sure that you know what kind of water you are drinking. In fact, many people can get sick from the water; therefore, if you plan on drinking the water it is wise to first boil the water to rid any diseases. There are many places that have water that is used for many purposes, but drinking is not one of them. Don't be afraid to ask. This is probably one reason why so many people today purchase bottled water.

2. If you can not get enough nutrition from food, you can always use milk as a back up. In fact, all you have to do is boil the milk for 10 minutes and it will be one of the best ways to get the nutrition you need! Try to avoid processed milk products.

3. Make sure to bring all your vitamins as it will help your body block any diseases that a person is prone to get. For many people, having multi-vitamins are more convenient.

4. Always make sure you know what type of climate you will be in. Before booking your vacation it is best to find everything out that you need to; as to what the weather will be like and what type of clothes you should bring. Always keep in mind that weather is one of the most unpredictable things there is.

5. Always remember to bring your lotions; such as body lotion, mosquito repellent or sun block. Be prepared for whatever situation you will be going into. If you are one of the many that have bad reactions from insect bites, be sure to bring something with you should you need it.

No matter where you go or what you do, it is always best if you study up on the places you plan on going; especially when it comes down to eating and drinking! It's best to go there knowledgeable than blind-sighted! There is nothing like good word of mouth, however. If you know of people that have traveled the same destination as you are, don't be afraid to ask them as many questions as you need. Most people love talking about vacations.

History of Thailand, A Strong Nation

Thailand History dates back to Paleolithic era. All along its past, it has emerged to become one of the leading cultural and economic centers in Southeast Asia. The story of fascinating country, Thailand is filled with religious disagreements, bloody revolution, rich tradition and other complications. Though there was high turbulence, Thailand is regarded as a popular tourists' destination and has achieved a strong political and economic position at the global level.

Thailand is also known as Sukothai. It was originally known as Buddhist religious territory and the area was divided into several kingdoms such as Lanna, Lan Chang, and Sukhothai. There is no doubt that modern Thailand emerged from the complex geographical-political origin with Bangkok as its capital and King Rama, the great, first created Chakri dynasty. During this period the history of Thailand got the name of early Modernity or Enlightenment by some historians.

At this time, major powers such as Britain and France were regularly trying their best to colonize countries in an effort to develop strong empire, but however, Thailand managed to escape from the control of these external powers. As there were very strong rulers, so it managed to preserve its independence and hence, its identity was maintained throughout the aggressive colonization. By this time, all the neighboring countries were absorbed in the influence of western civilization.

The twentieth century brought upheaval for Thailand as all the surrounding people and world class events laid their impact on the country's economy. In the early part of this century, new constitutional monarchial government was established which gave a new identity to Thailand government structure and changed the face of the country dramatically. The group of young and educated with the concept of western democracy demanded a change from absolute to constitutional monarchy and transferred the power to the constitution based system of government.

Asian Financial Crisis, which took place in 21st century was the last event and laid the notable impact on the country's economy. At present, Thailand is one of the strong countries to follow the future course. Though there were financial crises in last year, the country is still occupying leading position in economic, financial and political screen.

Jet Lag and the Rhythm Method of Family Planning

Not many babies are born when their parents are on vacation, but many babies are conceived when their parents are out of town. Any kind of birth control, including the rhythm method, requires prior planning when couples travel out of town. Even couples who use the rhythm method of family planning need to be aware that daytime flights across the ocean can accelerate ovulation.

The rhythm method relies on three main ideas. The first assumption is that women ovulate 12 to 16 days before menstruation begins. The second assumption is that the man's sperm can survive inside the cervix and uterus for three days. And the third assumption is that the egg released during ovulation only can be fertilized within 24 hours of release.

Traveling across multiple time zones changes a woman's reproductive clock. A trip from west to east can speed up ovulation. Ovulation is stimulated by the release of a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary gland in the brain. Typically, this dramatic dump of LH occurs in late afternoon, local time. A woman traveling, say, from New York to Tokyo can enter her fertile period a day early.

There are also issues for couples traveling south to north in the Northern Hemisphere or north to south in the Southern Hemisphere.

Although ethical concerns prevent clinical trials on humans, studies of animals suggest that a sudden shift to a longer day (either traveling to the North or South Pole in summer or traveling in daylight across the ocean) can cause the massive release of LH that might cause the release of the egg a day or two earlier than expected. Normal ovulation typically is restored the next menstrual cycle.

Walt Disney World Holiday Vacations

One of the most spectacular holiday gifts you could give your family is a vacation at Walt Disney World. This magical place, adored by kids of all ages, brings families together in a way that creates lifelong memories. What better time to bring out that special sparkle in your children's eyes than during the holidays?

Now that the 2008 holiday season is officially underway, each of the Walt Disney World theme parks has begun a stunning celebration that will delight each and every member of your family in true Disney fashion. You won't want to miss a thing, so get out your calendar and create a plan of action before you travel!

The Magic Kingdom, the original and most beloved of the Disney parks, is hosting Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Throughout the year, the majesty of Cinderella's Castle is an awesome sight at night, but during this celebration the 200,000 lights that transform this Disney World icon into a glistening ice castle will dazzle you. The customary fireworks over the castle are enhanced with holiday music, bringing tidings of great joy to all.

Of course, holiday parades, shows, and characters are a part of the Magic Kingdom party. There are even snowflakes, complimentary cookies, and hot cocoa for guests!

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is going on from 7:00PM until midnight, on select nights only during November and December. The 2008 dates include November 10, 11, 14, 16, 20, 21, and 30, and December 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 19.

From November 28, 2008 through January 4, 2009 Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World presents The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. This is a nightly extravaganza like nothing you've ever seen. Disney's Main Street America comes alive, as its buildings, strung with millions of holiday lights, seem to dance to holiday classics. The sheer beauty of the lights is impossible to describe and the music synchronization is fascinating! The show begins at dusk, and is repeated every 10 minutes.

Your vacation won't be complete without experiencing the Holidays Around the World event at Epcot. This is a nightly event that is being featured from November 28, 2008 through December 30, 2008. Prepare to be awed by the Candlelight Processional, an exhilarating reading of the Christmas Story set against an amazing orchestra and angelic choir. You can catch this inspiring storytelling every evening at 5:00, 6:45, and 8:15.

While at Epcot you'll want to relish the season with an international flair. Holiday storytellers will be featured throughout the season, offering heartwarming stories from around the world.

Make sure you stick around for Epcot's Illuminations Reflections on earth. This incredible fireworks spectacular, complete with lights, lasers, and water fountains, is set to a holiday theme. The ultimate holiday message is delivered through the grand finale which features the song Let There Be Peace On Earth, followed by a touching holiday message from Walter Cronkite.

From November 28, 2008 through January 4, 2009, Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World becomes a holiday playground. Festive music, holiday decorations, and Disney characters decked out in seasonal costumes will fascinate and delight all who visit. Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade is a must see!

In order to make the most of your time and money, be sure to research the various Walt Disney World ticket options available.

If you'll be visiting the parks for 4 or more days you'll most likely benefit from purchasing Magic Your Way tickets. These are base tickets that can be customized to add options such as water park entry, no expiration date, and park hopper.

My advice is to carefully consider the cost of these options and to realistically weigh their value.

While the water parks offer an incredible experience, this option can add significantly to your total cost. You'll want to keep a few things in mind, such as the possibility that it may not be hot enough during this season to spend a day at a water park, and that each of the 4 theme parks can easily fill more than 1 entire day.

If you plan your vacation well, you should be able to determine the total number of days that you'll want to spend in the parks. This will alleviate the need and extra cost of the no expiration option.

As far as the park hopper option goes, my advice is to pass on this as well, unless you only have a couple of days to spend and want to see all of the parks. The base ticket will enable you to visit any 1 of the 4 theme parks each day, and you will easily fill an entire day in any of them. In my opinion, park hopping is a time consuming and unnecessary option.

With all that Walt Disney World has to offer, your family will have the adventure of a lifetime. I wish you and yours a very merry holiday season and a healthy, happy new year!

Traveling Overseas

Traveling overseas is different from traveling locally or nationally. When you are traveling overseas, you must have a passport. In some cases you will also need a visa. These things have to be taken care of months in advance of your trip. You also will possibly need a driver's license depending on the country of your destination.

No matter which country is going to be your destination, it is your duty to find out beforehand what are the prerequisites to go to that country. You can check with the local embassy for more information or you can go on the Internet to research information for yourself.

Depending on the time of year you want to travel, find out what type of clothing you should take with you and what will happen as soon as you get to the airport such as any bus transportation for hotel customers. Most hotels do provide transportation for those who have already booked their room at the hotel.

Be sure to research any vaccinations that you may need such as for malaria or any other disease that the country may have a mandatory policy for. Learn about the culture of the country - what you shouldn't say or do. Some countries have fiestas where the city literally shuts down at a particular time of day and there is not much activity. You need to be aware of this so you can plan your trip to be an enjoyable one.

Of course, you won't be able to learn the language so fast, but you can try to learn some of the words so that you can detect anything that is being said. Get a handbook at the travel agency or brochure so that you can study the types of entertainment and attractions that are open to you while you are there.

If you are going to get a rental car, make sure you ask for a map of the area so that you don't get lost. Schedule your route beforehand. Do not go into unfamiliar territory. If you get lost, make sure to stop at a gas station or large store for directions. Don't stop in an alley or a lonely area that does not look safe.

I would recommend booking an all-inclusive vacation package so that the hotel plans your schedules and provides transportation to take you to different attractions during the day. If you have been to the country before and are already familiar with certain areas, then renting a car and going out on your own is feasible.

If you travel in groups or with a large family, then you have an advantage for reduced cost with your airfare, hotel, rental car and food. You can all pool together and share the costs. When you travel in a group, it is also safer to go out at night. You don't want to go out at night alone because if you don't know the area, you can run into danger. Traveling overseas can be fun, if you do your research and learn about the country before you go there.

Apply For a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa and Get the Benefits of Both Worlds

Located 2,000 kilometers southeast of Australia, the island-nation of New Zealand is famous for its unique isolation, lovely and scenic landscapes, diverse population and a thriving free-market economy. Straddling across the Tasman Sea, New Zealand is composed of two major islands, North Island and South Island, along with a number of other smaller islands. Going on a vacation here would be great, however there's also a way for you to go visit and work at the same time. Getting a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa helps you to achieve both objectives.

The island-nation has a population of around 4.3 million people, with 70% of the population here mostly of European descent, along with a large Maori population, which is the nation's biggest minority group. Asians and non-Maori Polynesians constitute the other significant minority groups here. New Zealand's closest neighbors include Fiji, New Caledonia, and Tonga.

New Zealand is notable for being a thriving free market economy. The country's Gross Domestic Product as of 2007 was pegged at $128.1 billion, and it has a significantly high living standard index that is estimated at a GDP per capita of US$30,234. This figure is comparable to the per capita GDP's of Spain and other nations in Southern Europe, but is quite lower than that of the United States. This nation has historically been blessed with a high living standard, owing to its steadfast relationship with the United Kingdom, as well as having a constant and secure market for its commodity exports. Agriculture continues to be the major export industry here, and dairy products account for as much as 21% of total exports. New Zealand's largest dairy firm, Fonterra, accounts for almost 1/3 of the global dairy trade. The country's other major agricultural exports include meat (13.2%) fruit (3.5) wood, fishing, along with a booming wine industry.

For those wishing to avail of a working holiday visa here, it would be nice to know that the service sector accounts for being the largest sector in the economy, followed by the manufacturing and construction sector, as well as the farming/raw materials extraction industry. For starters, a New Zealand working holiday visa serves as a travel permit that allows visitors to undertake employment here, with the purpose of helping supplement the visitor's travel funds. Generally, a number of nations offer these types of working holiday visas, usually under reciprocal arrangements between certain countries. The main purpose of the issuance of these types of travel visas is that it allows for an increase in travel and cultural exchanges between their citizens. Among the countries that participated in the working holiday visa program were Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Canada. The program's initial objectives were to enable young adults to experience living in a foreign country, and do away with the hassles related to finding work sponsorship arrangements or undergoing the otherwise lengthy process of applying for expensive university exchange programs.

There are a number of restrictions for getting a New Zealand working holiday visa. Most of these are age-related restrictions, which bar entry to those below 18 years old, as well as limits on the type of employment opportunities available for travelers, and the length of time that a visitor can be employed. Those who apply for this type of visa also need to know that they should hold sufficient amounts of funding, to enable them to live well while looking for a job.

In availing a New Zealand Working holiday visa, first applicants need to obtain an NZIS form 1085, which refers to the Application for a New Zealand Working Holiday. You may get this through calling the offices of your local New Zealand Immigration office or by requesting for an application pack, as well as by downloading the forms from the official New Zealand Immigration Web site. Once you get the form, complete the necessary requirements, answer the given questions and then provide legal proof of adequate funding at the time of your application.
