Festivals and Unique Special Events Keep Branson Visitors Coming Back For More

Tucked into the Ozark Mountains, Branson, Missouri has become a popular vacation destination over the years, which in turn, has created a solid base of entertainment. Shows like The Presley's and The Baldknobbers may have started it all, but now, there are over 100 shows to choose from, including the tried and true country traditions, with a little Broadway, Rock ' Roll and Contemporary artists thrown in for good measure. The idea behind Branson's success is its ability to embrace the new while also holding on to its valued traditions. This is all the more prominent now as every month Branson announces more exciting events and things to do in the Tri-Lakes area.

During the month of August, Branson is a haven for families trying to get in one last getaway before the back-to-school rush. It's also a time of change for Branson, as the seasons begin to change from summer to fall and open a new door of seasonal fun to be taken advantage of!

Branson was also host to the Olde Time Fiddle Festival during the month of August. This celebration of Fiddle playing drew huge crowds and offered up fiddle-playing from all ages, with prizes awarded to each age group. The 20th annual event was held at the Branson Landing and was FREE.

Silver Dollar City announced their Southern Gospel Picnic Festival, a celebration of food and music that is a traditional favorite. The festival began August 28 and runs through September 7. There are hundreds of gospel performances held throughout the park, with special end-of-the-night concerts held at Echo Hollow Amphitheater. The best country cooking around will also be available and will be prominently featured at as The House of Chicken & Fixin's and The Picnic Wagon, which are located at Silver Dollar City's square for this 11-day event.

The Tour of Missouri is also making its way to Branson, Missouri, scheduled to race into the area on September 10. As many as 120 cyclists from 15 elite teams will be competing during Tour of Missouri, and race organizers have already promised a tougher and more challenging Tour of Missouri. The Branson leg of the race starts at the Branson Landing and ends at The Shepherd of the Hills. Since this is Branson's 2nd year as a "host city," the amount of spectators promises to be as exciting as last year's.

VacationFun ranked Branson as their #1 vacation spot, based on the number of requests they receive for tourist information. VacationFun also noted Branson's family-friendly environment, low lodging rates and discount Branson show tickets as factors in Branson's success with travelers. "Branson's location and reputation as a value destination pushed it to the top of the list," said John Hudak, publisher of VacationFun, which is currently ranked in the top 10 percent of U.S. travel Web sites.

Autumn Daze Arts & Crafts Festival also headlined August announcements, as it is slated to begin September 18 and run through the 21st. More than 150 crafters will display their workings during the event, which is FREE to the public. This juried Arts & Crafts Festival will be held in Downtown Branson and will feature food and fun for the whole family.

The small town charm of Branson coupled with the big city excitement brought to the area creates a vacation destination unlike any other. Its unique combination of entertainment, attractions and outdoor beauty are sure to please visitors time and again. With exciting events happening each month, Branson is the place to be for fun!
